چکیده

Abstract Objectives Centrifugation is a time-consuming step which increases the turnaround time (TAT) in laboratories. A few studies have addressed effect of altering centrifugation settings on analytical quality for clinical chemistry analytes, and most these used collection tubes with gel separators. However, separator may be unsuitable some laboratories because they are slightly more expensive than without separators not appropriate special tests. The aim this study was to investigate conditions analytes. Methods We compared times 7 min at 2,200× g 5 2,750× manufacturer’s protocol 10 1,300× as reference condition. Twenty general analytes were studied lithium heparin plasma Results For all except carbon dioxide (CO 2 ), no significant differences analyte results observed when reduced. Deming regression Bland–Altman plots demonstrated an acceptable concordance within limits total allowable error between two rapid Conclusions Our confirmed that alternate either or samples collected data support using higher speeds shorter improve TAT results.

Influence of a Regular, Standardized Meal on Clinical Chemistry Analytes

BACKGROUND Preanalytical variability, including biological variability and patient preparation, is an important source of variability in laboratory testing. In this study, we assessed whether a regular light meal might bias the results of routine clinical chemistry testing. METHODS We studied 17 healthy volunteers who consumed light meals containing a standardized amount of carbohydrates, pro...

Fasting conditions: Influence of water intake on clinical chemistry analytes

Introduction Currently available recommendations regarding fasting requirements before phlebotomy do not specify any maximum water intake volume permitted during the fasting period. The aim was to study the effects of 300 mL water intake 1 h before phlebotomy on specific analytes. Materials and methods Blood was collected from 20 women (median age (min-max): 24 (22 - 50) years) in basal state...

Influence of centrifugation conditions on the results of 77 routine clinical chemistry analytes using standard vacuum blood collection tubes and the new BD-Barricor tubes

Introduction Although centrifugation is performed in almost every blood sample, recommendations on duration and g-force are heterogeneous and mostly based on expert opinions. In order to unify this step in a fully automated laboratory, we aimed to evaluate different centrifugation settings and their influence on the results of routine clinical chemistry analytes. Materials and methods We coll...
